VENTURA
WHAT HAS BEEN DONE
Researched the animal adoption landscape in Ukraine, defined the project's concept and its values, mapped out the full user journey, and designed the UI.
CONTEXT
Ventura is a mobile app that connects people with animal shelters in Ukraine. The name 'Ventura' is inspired by the 1990s comedy character Ace Ventura, whose job also involved rescuing animals.
Since most adoption platforms present animals as a list, consisting of a photo, some information, and a call-to-action button, this concept was designed somewhat differently.
Every animal has its own story, and the design is built around this story as the core element of the interface: what the animal has been through, what it needs, and what kind of home would suit it. The decision to adopt starts with this, rather than the swipe-based principle of "which animal deserves my compassion the most." In turn, donations go directly to shelters, not to individual animals, thus avoiding the "favourite animal" factor.
Adoption applications are submitted within the app, but the adoption itself takes place outside of it, since Ventura does not attempt to control the relationship but only helps to establish it and promote a culture of responsible pet adoption in Ukraine.
